The Berthoud Pickleball Club (BPC) held its annual meeting on March 14, 2026, after a two-hour open play session at the Berthoud Recreation Center. The club currently has 80 members, including 14 new first-time members, and expects to reach 150 members by the end of 2026. The club has 16 events planned for the year, including social events, tournaments, and the launch of a new competitive Northern Colorado Pickleball League.
Why it matters
Pickleball has become the fastest-growing sport in America, with participation increasing by over 223% in the last three years. The sport's popularity has led to a surge in court infrastructure investment, with over 3,000 outdoor courts added in major U.S. cities in the last seven years. The Berthoud Pickleball Club's growth reflects this national trend and the community's embrace of the sport.
The details
The Berthoud Pickleball Club rents three indoor courts at the Berthoud Recreation Center for its open play sessions, which are attended by about 45 members. The club is also helping to create a new competitive Northern Colorado Pickleball League, with men's and women's divisions, in partnership with neighboring clubs from Loveland, Windsor, and Fort Collins. The recreation center has eight outdoor courts and six indoor courts, which are popular with seniors, young adults, families, and youth.

What they’re saying
“I love playing pickleball. It helps me stay active, is not as boring as a treadmill or rowing machine and you meet people. We first played in Longmont but found the Berthoud players more friendly and welcoming. That was very much appreciated as new arrivals from Texas.”
