El Dorado County is hosting three community workshops in March to present the public review draft of the new Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan (TED). The TED Area Plan is a comprehensive long-term planning document that will update and incorporate the Meyers Area Plan and other communities in the Tahoe Basin area of the county. The goal is to consolidate land use regulations, simplify compliance with local and regional requirements, and enhance the efficiency of plan administration.

Why it matters

The TED Area Plan seeks to streamline permitting and environmental review for conforming projects, establish land use policies and design standards tailored to the context of the Plan Area, and address the unique needs and character of each community, as well as protect sensitive land and natural resources in the Tahoe Basin region.

The details

Following community feedback gathered in summer and fall 2024, the county has prepared the Public Review Draft and will be holding the following workshops to present the draft plan and gather additional input. The workshops will provide an overview of the Public Review Draft, orient the public to the document, and highlight major points and changes in the plan.

  • The workshops will be held on Wednesday, March 4 in Meeks Bay, Thursday, March 5 in Meyers, and a virtual workshop on Friday, March 6.
