The NFL has announced that Los Angeles will host Super Bowl LXI in 2027, taking over hosting duties from the San Francisco Bay Area which hosted Super Bowl LX in 2026. The announcement was made at a ceremony in downtown San Francisco, where Kathryn Schloessman, President & CEO of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission and CEO of the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee, accepted the hosting responsibilities from Zaileen Janmohamed, President and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee.
Why it matters
This marks the second time in six years that Los Angeles will host the Super Bowl, after successfully hosting Super Bowl LVI in 2022. The details
Los Angeles impressed with its hosting of Super Bowl LVI in 2022, despite the limitations posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, the city plans to showcase all that it has to offer, with Schloessman noting that there were many things they wanted to do in 2022 that they now have the opportunity to implement. Rams safety Quentin Lake, who grew up in Southern California, is hopeful that the Rams can repeat their Super Bowl victory from 2022 when the big game returns to Los Angeles.
- The Super Bowl LXI will be played on February 14, 2027.
