The ASWA's prestigious Mr. and Miss Basketball awards celebrate the top high school hoops talent in Alabama, honoring the state's rising stars.Hoover TodayThe Alabama Sports Writers Association has named Khloe Ford of Hoover High School as Miss Basketball and Jaylen Alexander of Oxford High School as Mr. Basketball for the 2025-26 season. Ford, a 6-foot-3 center, averaged 17.6 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Class 7A champion Bucs, while Alexander, a guard, led the Yellow Jackets to the Class 6A title by averaging 19 points and 4.1 assists.
Why it matters
The ASWA's Mr. and Miss Basketball awards are the state's top individual honors for high school basketball players. Hoover's four all-time Miss Basketball winners are a record, while Oxford's Jaylen Alexander is the 36th school to have a Mr. Basketball winner.
The details
Ford has signed with Missouri, while Alexander plans to sign with Kansas State this week. Hoover has had 10 Super All-State boys or girls players over its current eight-year streak, tying Midfield and Tuscaloosa Academy for the most. Mars Hill's Belle Hill is the second four-time player of the year award winner.
