Gryffindor Pride Day – March 22, 2025

Gryffindor Pride Day is celebrated on March 22 every year, and we’re here with all the information you need to celebrate the day in an amazing way. Do you know that it has been 25 years since the first “Harry Potter” book was released? Gryffindor is one of the many houses of the fictitious school of Hogwarts in the “Harry Potter” series. The Sorting Headgear, a magical hat that sorts youngsters into different houses of the school based on their character and skill, puts people who have courage and determination into the House of Gryffindor. Gryffindor is also Harry Potter’s house, and as a result, people adore Gryffindor even more. Gryffindor Pride Day was designed to honor the magnificent house of Gryffindor.

History of Gryffindor Pride Day

The house of Gryffindor was created by Godric Gryffindor. He was also one of the founders of the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Godric had been skilled ever since he was a kid. One of his best qualities was that he never discriminated between wizards and muggles, as he adored both. The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded by four people — two wizards and two witches. Their names were Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. The names of the houses in the school were the surnames such as Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

Unlike Slytherin who has always discriminated against the Muggles, The house of Gryffindor valued courage, grit, and determination and it didn’t matter to them who possessed these qualities. The name Gryffindor comes from the word ‘Gryffin’ or ‘Griffin,’ which means “a half lion.” This is also the symbol of the house. The second part of the name has a French origin, ‘D’or’ in French means “made of gold,” hence the house has the color gold. Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, also known as “Nearly Headless Nick,” is the ghost of the house of Gryffindor.

“The Fat Lady” guards the entrance to the Gryffindor common room. To enter the room, you need to tell her the password. Some of the noteworthy people in Gryffindor are Sir Cadogen from the Middle Ages, Albus Dumbledore, James Potter, Lily Evans, and Harry Potter.
