The Timber Rattlers' roster of top Brewers prospects aims to build a winning culture through a blend of individual development and team success.Appleton TodayNew Timber Rattlers manager Nick Stanley is excited to groom the next wave of Milwaukee Brewers talent, with a roster that includes nine of the organization's top 30 prospects. While player development is the priority, Stanley and his players are determined to win games this season after the team struggled to a 56-74 record in 2025.
Why it matters
The Timber Rattlers are a key part of the Brewers' minor league system, tasked with preparing the next generation of MLB talent. Stanley's emphasis on winning habits and a roster full of top prospects signals the organization's commitment to developing a winning culture at all levels.
The details
Stanley, the 13th manager in Timber Rattlers history, was previously the team's hitting coach in 2021-2022 before spending 2023 as bench coach for the Biloxi Shuckers and the last two seasons managing the Brewers' low-A affiliate in Carolina. He believes instilling a winning mentality from the start is crucial for player development. 'I look at what we do in the big leagues. We're developing players to help win in the big leagues, right? So all those habits, I believe, start now, and I think winning games is going to follow winning habits and operating the right way,' Stanley said.
- The Timber Rattlers' home opener was postponed, with the team playing a doubleheader on April 3.
- Right-hander Bryce Meccage, the Brewers' No. 21 prospect, got the opening day start on the mound for the Timber Rattlers on April 4 against the Beloit Sky Carp.
The players
Nick Stanley
The 38-year-old is the new manager for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the High-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. He previously served as the team's hitting coach and has managed at the low-A level.
Andrew Fischer
The Brewers' first-round draft pick in 2025 and the organization's No. 6 prospect, Fischer is focused on helping the Timber Rattlers improve on their losing record from last season.
Marco Dinges
A fourth-round draft pick by the Brewers in 2024, Dinges is the team's No. 10-ranked prospect and believes the Timber Rattlers have a 'special group' this year.
Bryce Meccage
The Brewers' second-round draft pick in 2024 and the organization's No. 21 prospect, Meccage got the opening day start for the Timber Rattlers and is looking to prove he can be an innings-eating workhorse.
Rob Zerjav
The Timber Rattlers team president, who is starting his 30th season with the organization, appreciates the Brewers' renewed emphasis on winning at all levels of the minor leagues.
What they’re saying
“A lot of talent, a lot of guys who are in the early stages of their career. A lot of development to go, but really, really exciting.”
— Nick Stanley, Timber Rattlers Manager
“This team didn't have a winning record last year, so this year, hopefully, we have a winning record and come out there and take care of business.”
— Andrew Fischer, Brewers No. 6 Prospect
“We got a special group here. We got a very talented group this year. … I mean, it's pretty much the future of the Brewers here.”
— Marco Dinges, Brewers No. 10 Prospect
“Knowing some of the arms that they've developed in the last few years is definitely reassuring. I mean, there's just a lot of good heads in the [organization], a lot of different opinions and it's super unique to be able to hear from all different [people], from the big league level down to low A, rookie ball. I mean, there's so many knowledgeable people and not only that, there's so many great resources too.”
— Bryce Meccage, Brewers No. 21 Prospect
“It's definitely an eye-opener. I feel like he just helps all of us, pushing all of us to basically be that one day. If you're young and you keep balling out, then they'll reward you.”
— Braylon Payne, Brewers No. 14 Prospect
What’s next
The judge in the case will decide on Tuesday whether or not to allow Walker Reed Quinn out on bail.
The takeaway
This story highlights the Brewers' renewed emphasis on developing a winning culture throughout their minor league system, with manager Nick Stanley and a talented roster of top prospects focused on both individual growth and team success for the Timber Rattlers.
