Life Flight Network and the Port of Walla Walla have debuted a new $2.6 million state-of-the-art hangar and crew quarters at the Walla Walla Regional Airport. The 7,880-square-foot facility consolidates aircraft and personnel into a single location, allowing teams to be airborne within minutes when responding to emergencies.

Why it matters

The new facility will enable Life Flight Network to provide faster emergency medical response times across the rural Walla Walla region, which previously had to rely on aircraft from neighboring cities that could add up to 40 minutes to a patient's wait. The upgraded base will also grow local staffing from 16 to 30 employees.

The details

The new facility integrates living spaces directly with the hangar, allowing Life Flight Network crews to immediately respond when called, similar to a fire department. Previously, crews were stationed in temporary quarters away from the aircraft. The public-private partnership project was funded by the Port of Walla Walla, local economic development grants, and a state loan.

  • The new facility debuted on Monday, April 14, 2026.
  • The project has been in development for over five years.
