Upon arrival, they located a person suffering from apparent gunshot wounds who was then transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. After canvassing the area, police located the suspect, Ian Michael Fisher, a 26-year-old Waynesboro resident, in the area of 6th Street and North Commerce Avenue shortly after the incident.
