SPARC's new Alexandria day program will offer a range of enriching activities and sensory experiences to support young adults with disabilities in an inclusive community setting.Alexandria TodaySPARC, a nonprofit organization that provides day programs for adults with disabilities, is opening a new center in Alexandria, Virginia this week. The new location joins SPARC's network of centers across Northern Virginia that offer continued education, skill-building, exercise, arts classes, excursions, and other activities for young adults with disabilities who have aged out of special education support. At the opening ceremony, SPARC will also unveil a new Mobile Exploration Lab, a controlled multisensory environment on wheels designed to meet a variety of sensory needs.

The details
SPARC's new Alexandria location will provide programs and services at the Hybla Valley Community Center. The organization was founded in 2015 with the goal of keeping people with disabilities out of institutions by offering education, activities, and other support at a lower cost than traditional Medicaid programs. In addition to the new Alexandria center, SPARC has locations in Fairfax, Arlington, and Loudoun counties.
