Park City, Utah has been named as one of the contest sites for the second season of the Snow League, a halfpipe competition created by three-time Olympic champion Shaun White. This will bring an Olympic-sized halfpipe back to the resort town that hosted the 2002 Olympics, where American snowboarders swept the medals. Park City will also host Olympic snowboarding again in 2034.

Why it matters

Park City has long been a hub for snowboarding and freeskiing, so the return of a major halfpipe competition is significant for the sport. The U.S. has struggled to produce top halfpipe talent in recent Olympics, so this event could help spur the next generation of American snowboarding stars.

The details

The Snow League event is scheduled for January 22-24, 2027, coinciding with the traditional Sundance Film Festival weekend. Park City hasn't hosted a 22-foot halfpipe since the 2019 World Championships.
