The Student Art Contest and Mental Health Resource Fair aims to celebrate student voices and promote community support for mental health.Sulphur Springs TodayIn recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Hopkins County Community Resource Coordination Group (CRCG) will host a Student Art Contest and Mental Health Resource Fair on May 7, 2026, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. The event will feature student artwork exploring mental health themes, as well as information and services from local organizations focused on strengthening access to care and promoting collaboration among schools, families, and community supports.
Why it matters
The art contest and resource fair aim to create a welcoming space that celebrates student voices, promotes mental health awareness, reduces stigma, and highlights the importance of support for children, youth, and families within the Hopkins County community.
The details
The student art contest invites middle and high school students to explore mental health themes through creative expression using age-appropriate prompts. Middle school students are encouraged to reflect on 'Inside vs. Outside,' showing how someone may look on the outside compared to how they feel on the inside, while high school students will explore 'Under the Surface,' examining emotions or struggles that are not always visible. Student artwork will be judged by local community leaders and individuals of professional significance, and selections will be recognized during the event. During the Mental Health Resource Fair, student artwork will be on display, and CRCG partner organizations will share information and services designed to strengthen access to care and promote collaboration among schools, families, and community supports.
