Jorge Calderon of Petersburg was traveling westbound on CR 5300 and entered the intersection at the same time as Monte Swanson of Ransom Canyon, who was northbound on FM 400. This caused Swanson to collide with the driver's side of Calderon's vehicle. Calderon was pronounced dead at the scene, while Swanson was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
