The Dallas Cowboys have hired Marcus Dixon as their new defensive line coach, reuniting him with newly hired defensive coordinator Christian Parker. Dixon, a former Cowboys player, has coaching experience with the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings. He and Parker previously worked together with the Broncos.

Why it matters

The Cowboys are undergoing a defensive staff overhaul under new coordinator Parker, and Dixon's hiring continues to fill out that side of the coaching staff. Dixon's experience developing defensive linemen, including working with star Aaron Donald in LA, should help bolster the Cowboys' defensive front.

The details

Marcus Dixon, a 41-year-old native of Georgia, was once an undrafted free agent signed by the Cowboys in 2008. He went on to play for the Jets, Chiefs, and Titans before a brief stint in the CFL. Dixon then launched his coaching career, first at his alma mater Hampton, before joining the Rams, Broncos, and most recently the Vikings as a defensive line coach. He now reunites with Parker, whom he coached alongside in Denver.
