Oklahoma offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu was named the recipient of the East-West Shrine Bowl Pat Tillman Award, which recognizes intelligence, sportsmanship and service. Nwaiwu, a former walk-on, has been a staple on the interior of the Sooners' offensive line the last two seasons.

Nwaiwu started his career as a walk-on at North Texas before transferring to Oklahoma, where he started every game the last two seasons, primarily at right guard. He was forced to shift to center for the final two games last season after an injury to Jake Maikkula. Nwaiwu earned second-team All-SEC honors and was a Burlsworth Trophy finalist, which honors the top college player who began his career as a walk-on.
