Drivers in the southeast Tarrant County area of Texas will face significant overnight closures and lane restrictions on Interstate 20 this week as part of the massive Southeast Connector Project, a $2.3 billion highway rebuild that will widen I-20 and I-820 and redesign major interchanges.

The Southeast Connector Project is one of the largest transportation initiatives ever undertaken in the Fort Worth region, aiming to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow through a critical corridor connecting several major cities. The overnight closures and lane restrictions this week are necessary steps in the multi-year construction process.

The details

The biggest impact is happening at Anglin Drive in Forest Hill, just south of Fort Worth, where westbound I-20 will be fully closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with traffic forced off onto the frontage road. At the same time, eastbound I-20 will be reduced to just one lane through that same stretch. Additional nearby closures and restrictions are also in place, including the eastbound I-20 ramp to northbound I-820, southbound I-820 at Meadowbrook Drive, and Anglin Drive at I-20.

• The closures started on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 and will continue nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sunday, April 19, 2026.
