The Dallas Stars extended their point streak to 13 games with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves for the Stars, who got goals from Oskar Back and Jamie Benn. Jack Eichel scored the lone goal for Vegas, which has lost three straight and six of its last seven games.
Why it matters
The Stars' 13-game point streak is the second-longest in franchise history, tying a run from 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. Dallas is making a strong push for the playoffs, while the struggling Golden Knights are trying to stay in the Western Conference postseason race.
The details
After a scoreless first period, Eichel gave Vegas a 1-0 lead early in the second. Back tied it midway through the period, and Benn scored on the power play late in the second to put Dallas ahead 2-1. The Stars' power play has now scored in 10 straight games, the longest streak in the NHL this season. A late Dallas goal was disallowed, but Oettinger held on for the win.
