The No. 7 Blinn College baseball team rallied past Alvin Community College 10-2 in an eight-inning Region 14 South victory on Thursday in Brenham, Texas. Sophomore pitcher Polleschultz bounced back from early solo home runs to deliver a stellar performance, while the Buccaneers' offense broke through with a six-run fourth inning to take the lead and pull away late.

Why it matters

The win keeps Blinn (32-11, 20-6 South) in the hunt for the Region 14 South title, as the Buccaneers look to build on their run to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series last season. Alvin, meanwhile, will look to regroup ahead of the series finale on Friday.

The details

Alvin jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with solo home runs in the first and second innings, but Polleschultz (4-0) settled in to allow just those two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings, striking out nine. Blinn's offense broke through in the fourth, with Benji Barrera's two-run double tying the game before RBI singles from Brady Sullivan, Zachary Tuxhorn, and a wild pitch gave the Buccaneers a 6-2 advantage. Blinn added two more runs in the sixth and enforced the run rule in the eighth.

What they’re saying

“Alvin can certainly swing the bat, and they hit some good pitches and got some balls into the wind that carried out. We did a good job of not letting that affect us, especially Polleschultz. He's been banged up, and we had no idea how long he'd be able to go, but he really stepped up for us tonight. He's 100-percent guts, and that's not a surprise to any of us.”

— Dusty Hart, Blinn College Head Coach

“It's a good sign when you're getting a lot of traffic on the bases, so you just have to keep grinding in those situations. Sometimes it's only a matter of time before a couple of hits fall in or some breaks go your way. Our guys stayed positive and stayed in the fight.”

— Dusty Hart, Blinn College Head Coach

What’s next

Blinn and Alvin will conclude their four-game Region 14 South series with a doubleheader on Friday, April 18, 2026 beginning at 2 p.m. in Brenham, Texas.

The takeaway

Blinn's comeback victory, led by a gutsy performance from pitcher Polleschultz and a timely offensive outburst, keeps the Buccaneers in the hunt for the Region 14 South title as they look to build on last season's run to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series.
