The Virtuix Omni One virtual reality treadmill system will be evaluated by Florida Gulf Coast University for use in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and clinical simulation applications.Austin TodayVirtuix Inc., a developer of full-body virtual reality systems, has delivered an Omni One omni-directional treadmill to Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Faculty and students in the Marieb College of Health & Human Services will assess the system's potential uses in physical therapy, occupational therapy, neurological rehabilitation, fall prevention, and clinical simulation.
Why it matters
The Omni One system's 360-degree locomotion technology allows for objective assessment of gait, balance, stride mechanics, postural control, and reaction time, making it highly applicable across physical therapy and rehabilitation. Its integrated safety harness also creates a secure environment for progressive therapeutic interventions while minimizing fall risk.
The details
In addition to rehabilitation applications, Omni One may support simulation-based education by enabling learners to navigate realistic virtual environments, including hospital units, home settings, community spaces, and disaster scenarios. Virtuix believes these capabilities can enhance situational awareness through interactive, movement-based experiences that train executive function and memory.
- Virtuix delivered the Omni One system to FGCU in April 2026.
The players
Virtuix Inc.
A leading manufacturer of full-body virtual reality systems for consumer, enterprise, and defense markets. The company's 'Omni' omni-directional treadmills enable users to walk and run in 360 degrees inside virtual reality applications.
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU)
