The Hawkins County Rescue Squad (HCRS) in Tennessee has received a grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to purchase new equipment that will enhance the squad's emergency response capabilities. The funding enabled HCRS to acquire two RECON Power Bikes and a patient rapid extraction stretcher trailer, which will improve access to remote areas and accelerate patient rescue times.

Why it matters

As an all-volunteer agency, the Hawkins County Rescue Squad plays a vital role in serving the community through search and rescue operations, off-road incidents, and medical emergencies. The new equipment provided by the TVA grant will give the squad additional tools to improve public safety and emergency preparedness across the region.

The details

The RECON Power Bikes and stretcher trailer will allow the rescue squad to reach hard-to-navigate areas, including uneven surfaces, steep grades, and congested recreation sites, reducing response times and enhancing outcomes. The squad has already utilized the eBikes during a recent search for two missing individuals in Rogersville.

  • The TVA grant was awarded to the Hawkins County Rescue Squad in April 2026.
