Jeffries coached at South Carolina State from 1973 to 1978 and again from 1989 to 1999, leading the team to five Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference titles. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Both Willie and Mary Jeffries have been actively involved in numerous charitable and community organizations in Union County over the decades.
