After receiving reports of shots fired in the Eastover area, a Richland County deputy set up a surveillance post and heard multiple gunshots coming from a passing vehicle. The deputy pulled the vehicle over and found the driver, Elliot Collier, to be the sole occupant. A search of the car uncovered ten 357 mag casings, multiple open boxes of ammunition for various calibers, and a total of seven handguns - including a Hammerli 22 pistol, Walther 9mm pistol, and a silver revolver. Approximately 1,500 rounds of ammunition were also discovered in the vehicle.
- Around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, a deputy set up a listening station to monitor the Vanboklen Road and McCords Ferry Road area.
- Around 8:35 p.m., the deputy heard shots fired towards the Main Street end of Vanbolken Street in Eastover.
- Moments later, the deputy observed an approaching vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at the Vanboklen and McCords Ferry traffic circle.
