A $1.7 million bridge replacement project on Raubsville Road in Williams Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania will close the road for several weeks starting Monday. PennDOT will replace the existing 24-foot masonry arch bridge constructed in 1896 with a new 30-foot concrete arch culvert, along with other roadway improvements.

Why it matters

This bridge is a vital connection for the 1,639 vehicles that travel this section of Raubsville Road daily. The closure will impact local residents, businesses, and commuters who rely on this route, requiring them to use a lengthy detour during the construction period.

The details

The project will replace the existing 24-foot by 21-foot masonry arch bridge with a new 30-foot by 36-foot concrete arch culvert. Other work includes approach roadway reconstruction, milling and paving, guide rail installation, curb installation, drainage improvements, and new signing and pavement marking. Grace Industries Inc. of Bath is the general contractor for the $1.7 million project.

  • The road closure and detour will go into effect on Monday, April 14, 2026.
