A festive, community-focused carnival is coming to Mount Hood, Oregon this summer to celebrate Pride Month and support LGBTQ+ youth. The Mt. Hood Pride: Queer Carnival will feature local food, drinks, makers, games, and live music in a substance-free, welcoming environment. Organized by the Wander Free and Queer group, all proceeds from the event's raffle will benefit The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ+ young people.

Why it matters

The Queer Carnival aims to create a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies in the Mount Hood region, which spans from the foothills of Sandy up to the mountain pass. By fundraising for The Trevor Project, the event will also support critical mental health and crisis services for queer youth, who face disproportionately high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide.

The details

The Mt. Hood Pride: Queer Carnival is planned for Sunday, June 21 from 10am to 4pm at Coffee House 26 in Welches, Oregon. The festival will feature local food, drink, and maker vendors, as well as carnival-style games and live music. The event is organized by Wander Free and Queer, a community group that creates opportunities and connections for LGBTQ+ individuals and families in the Mount Hood area. All proceeds from the event's raffle will be donated to The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ+ youth.
