Carrara started his day with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles, running the fastest race of his career with a time of 16.08. He also notched personal records in the discus (seventh place, 34.75m) and pole vault (11th place, 2.90m). In his final field event, the javelin, Carrara placed eighth with a throw of 42.87m. He then capped off his day with a big personal best of 4:57.43 in the 1500m, shaving nearly 15 seconds off his previous best time in the distance event.
