Flag City Honor Flight (FCHF), a 100% volunteer-run organization, is preparing for its 34th mission on April 14th, taking 82 veterans, primarily from the Vietnam War era, to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials built in their honor. The one-day trip will include visits to several iconic war memorials, with the public invited to a welcome home celebration for the returning veterans.

Why it matters

The Flag City Honor Flight program provides a meaningful way for the local community to honor and thank veterans for their service, especially those from the Vietnam War era who may not have received the recognition they deserved when they returned home. These trips are made possible through community donations and the tireless efforts of volunteers.

The details

The veterans will depart from Toledo Express Airport in the morning and visit memorials including the Iwo Jima Memorial, Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, Navy Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WWII Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery. The organization relies on community donations and flight sponsorships to cover all costs so that veterans do not have to pay to participate.

  • The 34th mission of Flag City Honor Flight will take place on April 14, 2026.
  • The welcome home celebration for the returning veterans is scheduled for the approximate time of 9:00 p.m. on April 14, 2026.
