The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is hosting a first-of-its-kind, full-day in-person bootcamp at the 2026 NAB Show to equip media professionals with the practical knowledge needed to confidently design, deploy, and operate IP-based production systems. The program will cover foundational concepts and hands-on system design, providing attendees with a shared technical vocabulary, greater confidence in infrastructure decision-making, and a clearer picture of where adjacent technologies fit within the broader standards landscape.

Why it matters

The industry's shift to IP-based production is well underway, and professionals need more than just theoretical knowledge - they need practical, systems-level understanding they can apply from day one. This SMPTE roadshow aims to bridge that gap by grounding the SMPTE ST 2110 standards in real-world operational practice.

The details

The full-day bootcamp will take place on Tuesday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Rm. N252 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. It will cover six structured modules that progress from foundational concepts to hands-on system design, led by SMPTE experts like Jesse Janosky, Senior Engineering Leader and ST 2110 Instructor at JPM Technology Consulting. Attendees will gain a shared technical vocabulary, greater confidence in infrastructure decision-making, and a clearer picture of how adjacent technologies like IPMX, NDI, Dante, and JPEG-XS fit into the broader standards landscape.
