The Oswego Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended approval of site plans for a proposed HomeGoods store at the Prairie Market East shopping center in the village. The 25,000-square-foot building would be located between existing tenants Aldi and PetSmart on a 9-acre site along Route 34 at Fifth Street.

Why it matters

The addition of HomeGoods to the Prairie Market East shopping center is seen as a positive development for the Oswego community, providing new retail options and economic activity. The approval process highlights the village's efforts to work with developers and attract new businesses to the area.

The details

The proposed HomeGoods store would be 8,056 square feet larger than the originally approved building footprint for the site. This requires approval of a major planned unit development amendment, as the increase exceeds 5% of the original approved size. The commission also recommended approval of the developer's request for a wall sign with letter heights of 72 inches, larger than the 48-inch maximum in the original planned unit development.

  • The Oswego Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the site plans on April 14, 2026.
  • The Oswego Village Board will have the final say on the plans.
