The interior will also see changes to accommodate the drive-thru, which accounts for the majority of sales.
Why it matters
The Glen Cove Taco Bell has become a local landmark, with its nostalgic 90s aesthetic attracting attention on social media. However, the company's ongoing efforts to modernize its brand and restaurants could mean the end of this unique, vintage-inspired location.
The details
The current Taco Bell on Forest Avenue features an orange exterior with pastel-colored seating and accents of pink, blue, and burnt orange - a design that has remained largely unchanged for decades. But according to the Glen Cove Building Department, the exterior will soon be updated to a flat white color with a purple rim around an orange roof, similar to the look of newer Taco Bell locations. The restaurant's logo will also be changed from its retro purple to white. Inside, the space will be significantly renovated to better accommodate the drive-thru, which accounts for most of the restaurant's sales.
