Lemaan Yilmedu, an organization focused on Jewish education, is launching a new 12-month course called 'Hilchos Tahara — Halacha L'Ma'aseh' that will provide an in-depth study of the laws and practical application of taharas hamishpacha (family purity). The course, taught by Rabbi Mendy Hershkop, aims to address the lack of ongoing education around this sensitive but important topic for married couples and community leaders.

Observing the laws of taharas hamishpacha is a core part of traditional Jewish family life, but many people only learn these complex rules right before marriage and then struggle to maintain proper observance over the years. This new course seeks to provide structured, comprehensive education to help individuals and communities better understand and apply these halachos in their daily lives.

The details

The 12-month course will cover the laws of taharas hamishpacha drawn from the Shulchan Aruch and its major commentaries, with a focus on practical application for real-life situations. Students who complete the coursework and pass exams will have the opportunity to receive further guidance and mentorship from Rabbi Tuvia Kasimov, an expert in the laws of family purity. The course is open to anyone wishing to study these topics in-depth, as well as community leaders like rabbis, shluchim, and mashpiim who need to properly guide their constituents.

• The course will begin on May 12, 2026 (25 Iyar).
• The course will run for 12 months, with 47 classes held on Tuesdays from 8:00-10:00 pm.

What’s next

Students who complete the course work and pass the exams will have the opportunity to receive shimush (mentorship) under Rabbi Tuvia Kasimov, an expert in the laws of family purity.
