A new Badger joins the roster as Wisconsin lands a talented transfer guard to bolster its backcourt.Brooklyn TodayWisconsin basketball has landed a transfer commitment from George Washington guard Trey Autry. Autry, a 6-foot-2 guard, spent the last two seasons with the Colonials and will now join the Badgers program for the 2023-24 campaign.
Why it matters
The addition of Autry provides a boost to Wisconsin's backcourt depth as the team looks to build on a 2022-23 season that saw them reach the NCAA Tournament. Autry's scoring ability and experience could help offset the departure of veteran guard Chucky Hepburn.
The details
Autry averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last season for George Washington. He shot 41.5% from the field and 35.9% from 3-point range. The Brooklyn native will have two years of eligibility remaining at Wisconsin.
- Autry committed to Wisconsin on Thursday, April 18, 2026.

What they’re saying
“We're excited to welcome Trey to our program. He's a talented guard who will provide valuable experience and scoring punch to our backcourt.”
— Greg Gard, Head Coach, University of Wisconsin Men's Basketball
The takeaway
The addition of Trey Autry gives Wisconsin another proven scoring threat as they look to build on last season's NCAA Tournament appearance. His experience and perimeter shooting ability should help offset the loss of veteran guard Chucky Hepburn.
