According to the company's website marketing, the main event for WrestleMania 42 Night One will be Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, while the main event for Night Two will be CM Punk defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.
Why it matters
While the matches chosen for the main events are high-profile and feature some of WWE's biggest stars, this marks the fifth consecutive WrestleMania without a women's match closing out the show, disappointing fans who have been pushing for more women's representation in the marquee slots.
The details
WWE has officially booked five matches for WrestleMania 42, including the two main event bouts. On Night One, Cody Rhodes will put the WWE Championship on the line against Randy Orton. On Night Two, CM Punk will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. The other matches confirmed are Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship, Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's Championship, and an open challenge from Brock Lesnar.
- WrestleMania 42 will take place on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Brock Lesnar is set to return to Monday Night Raw tomorrow night (March 16, 2026) to issue his open challenge for WrestleMania.
