Oswin Erhunmwunse, a former center for the Providence Friars, has committed to play for the Creighton Bluejays after entering the NCAA transfer portal. Erhunmwunse, a Nigeria native, averaged 6.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game in his two seasons with Providence.
Why it matters
Erhunmwunse's transfer is part of a larger shakeup in the Big East, with Providence also seeing a coaching change and Creighton dealing with the retirement of longtime head coach Greg McDermott. The 6'10" forward's move to Creighton could provide a boost to the Bluejays' frontcourt as they look to build on their recent success.
The details
As a member of the Class of 2024, Erhunmwunse was a four-star recruit out of Benin City (Nigeria) Putnam Science Academy (Conn.), ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the state, the No. 14 center in the class, and the No. 98 overall prospect. He hit the transfer portal as Providence basketball headed into a new era, with head coach Kim English and the program parting ways after the Friars' 15-18 (7-13) season and failure to make the NCAA Tournament.
- Erhunmwunse spent two years with the Friars before electing to enter the transfer portal.
- Providence quickly agreed to terms on a five-year deal with USF head coach Bryan Hodgson to replace the departing Kim English.

Owen Freeman
A guard who also entered the transfer portal after spending the first two years of his career at Iowa and the past season at Creighton.
What’s next
Erhunmwunse's transfer to Creighton comes as the Bluejays deal with the retirement of longtime head coach Greg McDermott, as well as the departure of guard Owen Freeman, who also entered the transfer portal.
The takeaway
Erhunmwunse's move to Creighton is part of a larger shakeup in the Big East, with coaching changes at both Providence and Creighton. The 6'10" forward's addition could provide a boost to the Bluejays' frontcourt as they look to build on their recent success and navigate the transition to a new head coach.
