The Carrington High School boys basketball team put up a fight against the top-ranked Four Winds-Minnewaukan Indians, but ultimately fell 60-30 on Thursday night. Carrington led early, but the Indians pulled away in the second half with a balanced scoring effort.

Four Winds-Minnewaukan is the unanimous number one team in Class A boys basketball, so this game provided a good test for the Cardinals against one of the state's top programs. The loss drops Carrington to 5-13 overall and 0-10 in Region 2A play.
The details
Carrington started the game well, mixing up their defensive looks and forcing the Indians into one-and-done possessions. Tate Wolsky and Maddox McIlonie hit early three-pointers to give the Cardinals a 10-6 lead. But Four Winds-Minnewaukan responded with a 9-0 run to take a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. The Indians then built a 29-18 halftime advantage, with Joran Lohnes scoring 7 of his team-high 11 points in the second quarter. Carrington's offense struggled in the second half, only making 5 field goals, as Seven Four Winds-Minnewaukan players scored between 6 and 11 points to pull away.
