Hendrick Motorsports has opened a new 35,000-square-foot athletic center on its campus in Concord, North Carolina, providing its NASCAR Cup Series team with world-class training facilities, recovery resources, and medical care. The state-of-the-art Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center was built after extensive research into top athletic facilities at colleges and the military, and features a high-performance gym, hydrotherapy room, physical therapy space, and more.

Why it matters

As NASCAR teams increasingly recruit college and professional athletes for their pit crews, Hendrick recognized the need to offer the same caliber of training facilities and medical support that these athletes are accustomed to. The new center aims to improve the overall health, wellness, and performance of Hendrick's drivers and crew members, giving the organization a competitive edge.

The details

The Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center includes a high-performance gym with the latest training equipment, modern locker rooms, a team operations center, a nutrition area, athletic meeting and film rooms, and dedicated spaces for physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and recovery. The facility also has a closed-loop pit stop practice circuit that can accommodate two teams concurrently, as well as a space for sports science research.

  • Planning for the facility began about three years ago.
  • The new athletic center opened in April 2026.
