The Arizona Wildcats women's basketball team has received a commitment from former Maryland forward Breanna Williams. The 6-foot-2 forward will join the Wildcats with three years of eligibility remaining after redshirting her first season with the Terrapins. Williams was a four-star recruit and Gatorade Player of the Year in Montana during her high school career at Skyview High School in Billings.

Why it matters

Arizona needed to add size and frontcourt depth to its roster, and Williams provides that with her 6-foot-2 frame. She showed promise in limited minutes at Maryland, and the Wildcats are hoping she can develop into a key contributor as they look to build on their success from last season.

The details

Williams appeared in 24 games for Maryland as a redshirt freshman, averaging 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks per game. Her per-40 minute numbers project to 18.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks. Williams was a highly-touted recruit out of high school, earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Montana after averaging 25.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.2 steals per game as a senior.
