Mizzou's new transfer addition Jamier Jones brings a dynamic scoring presence to the Tigers' frontcourt.Columbia TodayMizzou has landed a commitment from Providence forward Jamier Jones, a four-star transfer and the top small forward available in the portal. Jones, a 6-foot-6, 218-pound rising sophomore, was a consistent contributor for the Friars as a freshman, starting the final 19 games of the season and averaging 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Why it matters
Mizzou has several open roster spots to fill after losing key guards to the transfer portal, so Jones' commitment provides a much-needed boost to the Tigers' frontcourt. As a four-star recruit out of high school, Jones has significant upside and could develop into a go-to scoring option for Mizzou.
The details
Jones began the season coming off the bench for Providence but worked his way into the starting lineup by the end of December. Once he joined the starting five, he remained there for the final 19 games, scoring in double figures 14 times and reaching 20 points twice. He shot an efficient 57% from the field and 66.4% from the free-throw line as a freshman.
