Surveillance video captured the moment a man was shot multiple times on a busy downtown Houston sidewalk on Valentine's Day. The victim, identified as the son of a Harris County Sheriff's Office sergeant, was reportedly delivering food in the area when a verbal confrontation with the suspect, 21-year-old Nicholas Youngblood, escalated into violence.
Why it matters
This brazen daylight shooting in a crowded downtown area raises concerns about public safety and the potential for violence to erupt over seemingly minor disputes. The fact that the victim is the son of a law enforcement officer also adds an additional layer of complexity to the case.
The details
According to witnesses, Youngblood was selling cookies on the sidewalk when he and the victim, Curtis Moore, got into a verbal altercation. Surveillance video shows Moore arriving on a bicycle before Youngblood, dressed in all pink, pulls out a gun and fires multiple shots, striking Moore as many as nine times. Police responded quickly and arrested Youngblood nearby. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which could be upgraded if Moore dies from his injuries.
- The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026 outside a Chipotle restaurant in downtown Houston.
- Youngblood is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to determine if he will be granted bond.
The players
Curtis Moore
The 27-year-old victim, who is the son of a Harris County Sheriff's Office sergeant.
Nicholas Youngblood
The 21-year-old suspect who allegedly shot Moore nine times on the downtown Houston sidewalk.

The takeaway
This shooting highlights the need for improved conflict resolution and de-escalation training, as well as a closer examination of factors that may contribute to violence erupting over seemingly minor disputes in public spaces.
