The Chelsea Senior Center and Chelsea District Library have launched a new collaborative program called 'Library Connections' that aims to make it easier for local seniors to access helpful resources and services. As part of this effort, library staff will be available in the senior center lobby once a month to assist visitors with signing up for library cards, learning about accessibility tools, and navigating free digital services.

Why it matters

This partnership reflects the modern library's role in supporting underserved community members and removing barriers to accessing important resources. By meeting seniors where they already feel comfortable, the program helps ensure older adults in Chelsea stay informed and engaged.

The details

During the 'Library Connections' events, library staff will provide one-on-one assistance to seniors, helping them sign up for or renew library cards, learn about tools for those with vision loss, and navigate free streaming services. The library is also supporting the senior center's new book club by providing curated title suggestions and multiple copies of each selection. Additionally, a library staff member is delivering books to homebound seniors as part of the Meals on Wheels program.

  • The first 'Library Connections' event will be held on April 22, 2026.
  • The 'Library Connections' program will continue on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
