A new report from rental marketplace Zumper has found that Arlington, Virginia has the most expensive rental market in the Washington DC metro area, with the average 1-bedroom rent reaching $2,459 per month as of April 2026. Other high-cost cities in the region include Alexandria and Falls Church, Virginia, as well as Bethesda, Maryland. In contrast, Hagerstown, Maryland and Winchester, Virginia were identified as the most affordable rental markets in the DMV.
