A vibrant celebration of community leadership and achievement brings a sense of joy and connection to Oak Bluffs.Oak Bluffs TodayOak Bluffs, Massachusetts has been celebrating the accomplishments of several prominent Black women leaders in the community and beyond. Benaree Pratt Wiley, a long-time corporate director and trustee, was honored with the prestigious Legacy Award from Black Enterprise Magazine at their 20th annual Women of Power Summit. Additionally, Denyse Bardouille, the first Black female probation officer in the Massachusetts Trial Court system, was celebrated at the state's Women's History Month event. The local League of Women Voters also hosted a forum for candidates running for public office in Oak Bluffs ahead of the upcoming town elections.

Benaree Pratt Wiley was honored with the Barbara Graves Legacy Award at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit in Las Vegas. Wiley is known for her role as president of The Partnership in Boston, an organization that works to attract, retain and develop talented professionals of color. The Partnership previously hosted summer conferences on Martha's Vineyard, where speakers like American Express' Ken Chennault and Black Enterprise founder Earl Graves, Sr. spoke. Denyse Bardouille was celebrated at the Massachusetts Trial Court's Women's History Month event. Bardouille persevered through nepotism, racism and sexism to become the first Black female probation officer, holding positions at the court for over 30 years.
