New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis was nominated for the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, but ultimately fell short in the voting, with the honor going to Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner. Despite the loss, Davis' accomplishments both on the field and in the community remain impressive, as he has been nominated for the award three times since joining the Saints in 2018.
Why it matters
The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award recognizes players who have made significant contributions to their communities, in addition to their on-field performance. While Davis did not win, his continued nomination highlights his dedication to making a positive impact off the field, which is an important part of being a role model for NFL players.
The details
Demario Davis has been with the Saints since 2018 and has been nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award three times (in 2020, 2022, and 2025).
