Starting Monday, April 13, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will begin concrete repair work on LA 526 (Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) between LA 511 (70th St) and Kingston Road in Shreveport. Intermittent lane closures will be necessary to allow the construction activities to proceed safely and efficiently.
Why it matters
The Bert Kouns Industrial Loop is a major thoroughfare in Shreveport, so the upcoming concrete repairs will impact traffic flow and commute times for many drivers in the area. The project is part of a broader effort by DOTD to address concrete repair needs on several roads in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
The details
The contractor will begin by removing damaged areas of roadway on LA 526 and then re-pouring new concrete at certain locations. This work is expected to cause intermittent lane closures to allow the construction to progress safely. DOTD has also noted that work is still ongoing on LA 523 (Line Ave/Ellerbe Rd) near LA 3132 as part of this larger concrete repair initiative.
