The No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the LSU Tigers 76-71 in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night, completing a season sweep of their SEC rival. Freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. led the way for Arkansas with 24 points, while Trevon Brazile added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. LSU was led by Max Mackinnon's 26 points, but the Tigers' leading scorer Dedan Thomas remained sidelined with a foot injury.
Why it matters
The win keeps Arkansas (17-6, 7-3 SEC) in the thick of the SEC regular season title race, as they remain tied for third place with Texas A&M. LSU (14-9, 2-8 SEC) has now lost 4 of its last 5 games and continues to struggle without its top scorer Thomas.
The details
Arkansas jumped out to an early lead, but LSU fought back to take a 59-56 advantage midway through the second half. However, Acuff took over down the stretch, scoring 12 of the Razorbacks' final 15 points to lead the comeback. Arkansas shot 52% from the field and 36% from 3-point range, while LSU struggled at 44.7% overall and just 5-of-23 from deep.
- The Razorbacks and Tigers met for the second time this season on Tuesday, February 11, 2026.
- In their first matchup three weeks ago, Arkansas defeated LSU 85-81 at home.
The players
Darius Acuff Jr.
A standout freshman guard for Arkansas who led the team with 24 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in the win.
Trevon Brazile
A key contributor for the Razorbacks, scoring 19 points to go with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks.
Max Mackinnon
LSU's leading scorer with 26 points, but the Tigers struggled without their top player Dedan Thomas, who remained sidelined with a foot injury.
What they’re saying
“We knew this was going to be a tough road game against a scrappy LSU team, but our guys stepped up when it mattered most. Darius was phenomenal down the stretch and really carried us to the win.”
— John Calipari, Head Coach, Arkansas Razorbacks (Arkansas Athletics)
“We fought hard, but missing Dedan really hurt us tonight. Max did all he could, but we couldn't get enough production from the rest of the team. We'll go back, regroup, and look to bounce back in our next game.”
— Matt McMahon, Head Coach, LSU Tigers (LSU Athletics)
What’s next
Arkansas will look to continue its push for the SEC regular season title when it hosts Alabama on Saturday. LSU will try to snap its recent skid when it travels to face Ole Miss on the road next Tuesday.
The takeaway
This win keeps Arkansas firmly in the SEC title race, showing the Razorbacks' depth and resilience in overcoming a tough road environment. For LSU, the loss highlights the team's struggles without its leading scorer Dedan Thomas, raising questions about the Tigers' ability to compete at the top of the conference without their star player.
