The team entered the spring portion of the schedule ranked #63 nationally, putting them in position to be considered for an NCAA at-large bid, but have since dropped to #85 in the rankings. This event, as well as the upcoming Big Ten Championship, will provide an opportunity for Rutgers to move back up in the rankings and solidify their postseason chances.
Why it matters
The Hoosier Collegiate Invitational features a strong field, including 10 Big Ten teams and several highly ranked programs. A strong performance could help Rutgers improve their NCAA tournament resume, as the lowest ranked team to make the regional field last year was #67. However, the team will need to put together a significant effort, as well as hope for some missteps from the higher ranked teams ahead of them.
The details
The 15-team, 54-hole event is led by #14 Illinois, with other Top 50 teams including #40 Kansas, #42 Purdue, and #46 Northwestern. Other Big Ten squads in the field are #62 Ohio State, #71 Minnesota, #87 Michigan, #97 Indiana, #103 Maryland, and #108 Wisconsin. The non-Big Ten teams are #56 Arkansas-Little Rock, #145 Northern Illinois, #151 Toledo, and #186 Ball State.
- The Hoosier Collegiate Invitational will take place this Saturday and Sunday (April 19-20, 2026).
- Rutgers has not competed in this event from 2023 through 2025.
