The Des Plaines City Council will discuss plans for the construction of three new industrial buildings totaling 519,576 square feet on the former Universal Oil Products (UOP) property. The plans call for a 260,400 square foot facility south of Algonquin Road and two additional buildings of 152,820 and 106,756 square feet north of Algonquin Road. Three existing buildings on the property will be demolished to make way for the new development.

Why it matters

This major industrial development represents a significant investment and economic opportunity for Des Plaines, as the city looks to attract new businesses and jobs to the area. The project will also transform a former industrial site into a modern commercial hub.

The development will be located east of Mount Prospect Road, both north and south of Algonquin Road, across from the new Vetter pharmaceutical facility currently under construction.
