Benedictine boys, Jenkins girls shine at SCD track meet

The Benedictine boys and Jenkins girls track and field teams had standout showings at the Savannah Country Day Track and Field Meet No. 6. Benedictine's boys finished second overall, led by wins from junior Stanley Smart Jr. in the 100m, senior Josh Washington in the 400m, and junior Tucker Hollis in the 1600m. The Jenkins girls won the team title, paced by senior Ivey Hall's victories in the 400m and 200m, and senior Blessed Diogo's wins in the long jump and triple jump.

Benedictine's boys scored 62.5 points to finish second behind Glynn Academy (68 points). Junior Stanley Smart Jr. won the 100m in 10.84 seconds, with classmate Eron Mallard taking second. The Cadet 4x100m relay team of Smart, Mallard, Washington, and Stewart Dunn won in 41.77 seconds, edging Jenkins. Washington, who is signed to play football at New Hampshire, won the 400m in 51.04. In the 1600m, BC junior Tucker Hollis won with a personal-best time of 4:38.05. On the girls' side, Jenkins scored 52 points to beat Glynn Academy by 4.5 points. Senior Blessed Diogo won the long jump (18-4.25) and triple jump (36-0), while senior Ivey Hall took first in the 400m (57.89) and 200m (25.63).
