Two former Boston College men's basketball guards, Donald Hand Jr. and Luka Toews, have found new homes for the 2026-27 season. Hand was picked up by Loyola Chicago in the Atlantic 10, while Toews landed at Furman in the Southern Conference.

Why it matters

The transfers of Hand and Toews come after Boston College struggled to a 11-20 overall record and 4-14 mark in ACC play last season. The new coaching staff led by Luke Murray will have to rebuild the roster with these key departures.

The details

Hand, the ACC's 2024-25 Most Improved Player, saw his production dip this past season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Toews, however, took a big step forward in his sophomore campaign, increasing his scoring average to 6.3 points per game while starting 20 of 29 contests.

  • On April 6, Donald Hand Jr. entered the transfer portal.
  • On April 1, Luka Toews entered the transfer portal.
