A rescued blind dog named Rain finds joy and freedom in a safe, supportive environment thanks to the efforts of a dedicated animal rescue group.Orange City TodayRain, a blind dog with a genetic disorder, was rescued from an animal shelter by the Touch of Grey Rescue group in Florida. The all-volunteer organization helped facilitate the removal of Rain's bulging eye and found her a loving adoptive family who embraces her unique needs, including taking her to a mobile dog gym where she can run safely despite her blindness.
Why it matters
Older or medically-fragile animals like Rain are often overlooked for adoption in shelters, despite having plenty of love to give. Touch of Grey Rescue works to find homes for these special needs pets, providing them with care and support until the right family comes along.
The details
Rain came to Touch of Grey Rescue in June 2025 from Orange County Animal Services with a bulging eye. The rescue group learned she had oculoskeletal dysplasia, meaning she had been blind since birth. They helped facilitate the removal of her eye and then connected her with Jog Pup, a mobile dog gym in Florida where blind dogs can run safely. Rain was officially adopted by her foster family last Christmas, and the whole family adores her.
