Aventura Arts & Cultural Center
3385 NE 188th Street, Aventura, FL 33180
Since its 2017 world premiere, Dance NOW! Miami's acclaimed Bridges NOT Walls has only grown more urgent. This powerful one-act work calling for understanding, communication, and compassion toward immigrants returns as part of Program II on Sunday, March 15. The piece confronts political divisions in America and beyond, exploring difference, commonality, migration, and silence through choreography by Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini, with video art by Francisco Javier Moraga Escalona and an evocative score.
Why We Like It
- Bridges NOT Walls has evolved through residencies and performances in Mexico and Italy, making it a truly global work.
- The program also features the world premiere of Baumgarten's 1933, a cabaret-inspired reflection on the rise of Hitler.
- Salterini's duet Strings of Goodbye and Tandy Beal's Forest Dreams from DNM's Masterpiece in Motion series are also included.
Who Should Attend
This event will appeal to those interested in contemporary dance, social and political commentary, and the power of art to bridge divides. It's a must-see for fans of Dance NOW! Miami and those passionate about exploring themes of migration, understanding, and compassion.
