The Grand Valley Creative Alliance (GVCA) is launching a new community hub called The ARTery, set to open in downtown Grand Junction, Colorado, this summer. The ARTery will serve as a makerspace and gathering place for local creatives, providing a space for artists, designers, and other makers to collaborate, share their work, and build connections within the Grand Valley's artistic community.

Why it matters

The ARTery fills a need identified by the local creative community for a dedicated space to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and support the growth of the arts in the Grand Junction area. As a hub for creatives, the new space is expected to help strengthen the region's creative economy and cultural identity.

The details

The idea for The ARTery was proposed in 2021 after a workshop held by the Creativity Lab, an initiative of Colorado Creative Industries and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Robbie Breaux, the GVCA board president, said the workshop made it clear that the Grand Valley needed a dedicated organization to bring local creatives together. The ARTery will serve as that central gathering place, offering memberships and resources for artists, designers, and other makers to access equipment, collaborate on projects, and showcase their work.
